What evidence do we have in this chapter of the controlling nature of the Chinese government?

Since the new take over of government China has been less separated with the world. Flights have been let in and out, before with Chairman Mao's law, no-body can accept government officials could enter and exit China. Also movies of western people haven't be allowed by Mao, now they are. "We began to watch more and more foreign films. We'd devise any possible way to get into the heavily guarded theaters where these 'colour films' were shown."

some examples of the controlling Chinese government are that they use to ban foreign films and color films, they were never taught to waltz because it was seen as a corrupted dance form by madame Mao and nobody in china could enter or exit the country only officials could. bounce bounce
