Chapter 6 Question 5
Li uses the bird as a metaphor for himself because he wished for wings so he could fly out of his harsh life, he yearned to speak their language and ask them what it was like to fly. If he would become a bird, he would leave his family which would surely break his niang's heart. But somtimes he thought he might be able to help them more as a bird, flying high in the air and spotting food for his family to eat.

chapter six question five
Li hoped to fly out of his harsh life if he could be a bird. He would also leave his family but that would surely break his heart and he thought he might be able to help them more as a bird, flying high in the air and spotting food for his family. If only he had the power to be transformed into a bird.

How does Li use the bird as a metaphor for himself
Li likes this story because the moral is that one should keep his promises and that if you don't bad things will happen to you and I think that Li lived by that moral because he always kept his promises like when he went to get rid of his monkeys(warts) with jing tring and he promised that he would take him to his friends house and kept his promise.

How does Li use the bird as a metaphor for himself?
If Li was a bird he would fly around their village and spot food or vital living needs and help them get out of the their horrible living conditions just like what the bird did with the hunter in the story.

answer
the bird was a metaphor for what Li wanted to be because he wanted to be free in life and not to be confined to his little peasant village.

chapter6 question 2
How does Li use the bird as a metaphor for himself?
Li wishes he was a bird because he wishes he had wings, to escape his life of poverty and find freedom.Leaving his family would hurt them deeply but Li feels like if he was high up in the sky he would be able to look over them, so his family would always have enough food to eat.

He wishes that he too could have wings that could take him out off his land to a better place. He loves how graceful they are. Although he also thinks about if he became a bird how hard it would be to leave home.
