Li's brother tells him to keep his homesickness to himself so that he wouldn't let his Niang know that he is homesick, or she'll get worried and very sad.

Li's brother tells him to keep his homesickness to himself because if his niang finds out she will be very sad and wish to help him overcome his homesickness.

Li's brother tells him not tell his Niang about his homesickness because he does not want Li to come back to there commune and have a destiny of work in the fields for hours not even getting enough food to feed himself for a single day. Another reason is because Li's Niang is already missing him so much.

Because if CunXin told his parents about the bad stuff in beijing his parents will think that it is a bad decision to have CunXin back at the academy suffering and Li always wanted his Niang and Dia happy everyday, so keeping the sad secrets to himself is the best way to benefit everyone.

even if Li is homesick he should try and bear it because he is the only person who has a chance of not living a peasants life unlike anyone else in his family, because it would make Li's niang very sad and worried about him throwing away his big opportunity.

Li's brother told Li to keep his homesickness secret because if Li told Niang, she would be depressed because of Li being homesick and sad at the academy so the brother told Li to tell Niang only good things back at the academy.

Niang would be very worried about Li going to Beijing so they decided to tell her he was having a great time.
