Re: Question Three
How does Li show us how beloved Na-na was by their actions following her death?
She firmly believed that her spirit will live on in a different world, therefore a special coffin was made carved with birds, flowers, trees and water and it was painted. They buried her near water which meant a lucky place. The man with the best writing wrote Nana's name on a large piece of white paper for her grave. The name had to be put on the grave quickly or else her soul would wonder away and become lost. At least one person would stay by the coffin during 3 days to keep her company. Li thought she was the best Nana in the world. The funeral was expensive, the procession began from house. Only men were allowed to the burial site and woman cried in the house and cooked food.
They had to wear some white for a whole year. They often visited the graveyard so she wouldn't be lonely and bring pretend money and food. They gave things to her so she will have alot of things in the new world

chapter five question three
Li had got in trouble in chapter five for breaking six plates however Na-na helped Li out of danger. Li was truly thanks to Na-na about it and kissed her. Li was stricken with grief at Na-na’s death. She told Li, a few days before her death, ‘If there is one thing I want you to do for me when I’m dead, it is to bury me properly.’ She firmly believed that her spirit would live on in a different world.
Eventually and fortunately, Na-na’s burial was the last one allowed in our village before government had started forcing people to cremate the dead.

When Nana was dead, she firmly believed that her spirit will live on in a different woorld, so the Li family made a special coffin with birds, trees, flowers and water carved in. They buried Nana and our youngest aunt's husband painted, since he was the furniture painter. The man with the best writing in the village wrote the name quickly otherwise her soul will wander off and never find it's way again. The village leaders let Li family to select the edge of a ditch for Nana's burial site and they chose the water escape channel from the fields. Niang cooked food and and used blue rice paper to make some figures of a horse and cows and the painter would draw half human faces. They also wore something white for one year.
