Question One Empty Li had very bad medical and health in his town

Post  William Rankin Mon Jul 25, 2011 12:02 pm

Li's town has extremely bad medical/health habits and were very unhealthy e.g. Li's closest encounter with a doctor was when he got his pox injection and the nurse would use the same needle for all of them and cleaned it with a bit of alcohol.

since they didn't have enough money to buy any remedy's or bandages they would have to use town superstition like there cough remedy is a snake skin wrap't around a green onion and their band-aid and antiseptic was some dust off the window sill.

their remedy's are completely different to what we have now and we are much more cautious now than they were back then and I am happy that we use the cures that we use instead of those ones.

Question One Empty Chapter 3 Question 1

Post  Harry Mon Jul 25, 2011 12:53 pm

In Li's village the medical and health was terrible, Li didn't even see a doctor or nurse in his childhood because his family could never afford it. The only time Li got close to a medical person is when he had to get small pox shots. The "barefoot" doctor used the same needle for everyone, they only use alcohol-soaked cotton-wool to clean the needle. When Li got a cut he was told by his parents to swipe his fingers on the windowsill to gather some dust to put on the cut and stop the bleeding, it was basically their band-aid and antiseptic all in one. His niang would collect snake skin and wrap it around a piece of green onion and makes him eat it in front of her, it was the most effective treatment for sore throats and coughs they had.

Question One Empty ANDOTRAIN's ANSWERS

Post  Andrew Sott Tue Jul 26, 2011 7:02 am

The Medical situation in Li's Village the horrid. Li almost never interacts with a doctor or nurse, except the time that he had to go and get a small pox injection. Li and his family are very poor which leaves them in a situation that they cannot afford to take their kids to the doctor even when situations are at worst. They simply use window dust to help cuts an d sores.

Question One Empty Ben W's question 1

Post  Ben W Wed Jul 27, 2011 3:45 am

The medical situation in Li's village is at a critical situation because not many of the families can afford to go to the doctors if they get sick and they don't have many medicines to cure people if get a desease and they will probably end up dying. They have a barefoot doctor that goes around but they wouldn't have many medicines either.

Explain the medical and health situation in Li’s village.

Li’s village had a few health issues. A lot of them had a large number of lice and it was much easier to spread then because they were not able to wash their hair everyday. Which means it was not clean so they could not get rid of them. They also had a disease called pox which they had to get needles for because it was a growing disease globally. They did not have the money to go to the doctor so they had to take the best care they could.

Explain the medical and health situation in Li’s village.

Li Cunxin and his family are so poor that they can't even aford to see a nurse or doctor, only when they recieved small pox shots by a bare foot nurse. Since Li's family can't afford to see a doctor they have to use ancient remadies to help cure the sickness.

the madical condition in lis vilalge is dire as they have no avalable medical help. li has never been to see a doctor exept from the times that he had a small pox injection. They had a whole range of folk remedys that had no real medicinal effect and sometimes it made it worse. this wasn't helped by them being hungry and and weren't as strong to fight of infections because they didn't have as much energy.

Question One Empty answer

The health situation in Li's village is dire the only form of doctor for there village is the barefoot nurse. in Li's village when people get sick they rely on ancient traditional remedies to cure diseases such as a green onion wrapped in a snake skin. Nobody in the village has enough money to visit a hospital nor is there one in the village. If people get sick and they don't have a remedy to cure it they usually have to wait for there sickness to go away. bounce bounce

Question One Empty Explain the medical and health situation in Li’s village.

Post  naylorm Thu Jul 28, 2011 7:07 am

The health system in li’s village is severe, they only have one doctor in the entire village and that’s the bare-foot doctor which gave them the small pox injection. For cuts they get dust from the window sill and put it them. If you feel ill they cook local remedies and you eat/drink them. For coughs you wrap a snake skin around a green onion and eat it.

The medical situation in Li's town is terrible. They cant afford anything, when there was a small pox outbreak they had to share needles with everyone. If they get a cut they have to use dust to stop it. These days we wouldn't even think about putting dirt in a cut encase it got infected. If they have a sore throat they eat a onion wrapped in snakes skin.

Medical condition in Li's village is extremely poor and Li's only contact with any Medical treatment was when they get the samll pox injection. The reason why Li isn't getting formal medical treatment is because their family cannot afford such luxury to give their kids medicine just for sickness.

The village situation is devastating. They barely see a doctor, except when he had the small pox injection and when Niang was very sick due from working too much. The 'barefoot' doctor gives her some medicine but there was barely any effects. There is barely anyone who could pay for the medicine, or herbal. When Cunxin burnt his arm badly, they applied herbal medicine to Cunxin's arm but it didn't work so they had to use bai fang, meat tenderizer. When they have wounds, they need to get thick dust from the windowsill and put it on the wound to stop bleeding.

Question One Empty chapter three question one

Post  jackko Fri Jul 29, 2011 2:23 pm

The medical situation and health situation was really poor in Li’s village. Because they hardly called for doctor because of the financial difficulties, many doctors won’t try to stay in Li’s village because they could earn much money from the patients either. When they get health difficulties, they either get tetanus shot or a small pox injection which sells in a cheap price; however there was a side effect which recovered from the illness hardly.

The medical and health situation in Li’s village is extremely bad. They don’t have showers, flushable toilets or fresh water and they never go to the doctor “I don’t ever remember going to a doctor or hospital during my childhood; not that I didn’t get sick, but we could never afford it” They use home remedies “when I cut myself I was told by my by my parents to swipe my fingers on the windowsill to gather some dust to put on the cut and stop the bleeding”. His closest encounter with a doctor was when he got his pox injection and the nurse used the same needle for all everyone in the village and cleaned it with a bit of alcohol.
