They created paper mache lantones to decorate the wedding area, there were 'trumpets, cymbals, gongs and bamboo flutes' they ate for them indulgent food that they might eat at Chinese new year, such as tea, sweets, roasted sunflower seeds, peanuts and bland rice. The bride didn't wear any jewellary because there family was too poor.

Question Two Empty how do the li's celebrate the marriage

Post  William Rankin Fri Jul 22, 2011 8:06 am

before Reiquing is married off her family would have a big feast and at the end of it her mother would take her a bowl of rice and Reiquing would have two mouth fulls and spit one into her mothers pocket to signify that she will always have enough food and keep the other mouth full along the trip to signify that she will also never go hungry through her marriage.

when she reaches her husbands house she has to sit on a bamboo mat for three days with her back strait all day and night in a lotus position,
on the three days people come to make kayos.

when they first meet the groom gives her a pair of chopsticks with chestnuts and dates to signify the early arrival of sons.

Question Two Empty question 2

Before the wedding the bride has to walk all the way to the wedding ceremony in a vale, with rice in her mouth. It symbolizes that she would never starve along the journey of her life. At the ceremony a local man reads out the ancient poem while the bride and groom kneel down on two bamboo mats. After the wedding the bride sits in a type of crossed legged lotus position for three days. On the first night the brides family comes and creates *chaos* with lots of teasing mostly aimed at the bride. On the fourth day the broom introduces the bride to his family.
