What conflict does Li face by the end of the chapter?

Li is in a relationship with 18 year old girl from Florida called Elizabeth Mackey, Li and Elizabeth meet in secret because Li is worried that Ben would send Li back to China. Li is even more worried that they would not be able to get married, after they fall in love. By the end of the chapter Li is still worried about how to get married to Elizabeth.
